A death certificate is a public document, and if an institution in a country other than the country of death requires it to be submitted, it is highly likely that you will need it apostilled or superlegalized (higher – consular legalization).
An apostilled or superlegalized death certificate is used in cadastral offices to prove the death of a property owner, as well as in other life situations (e.g., when applying for various benefits, submitting a death certificate of a deceased spouse for a subsequent marriage, or registering a newborn in the registry if one parent has passed away, and similar cases).
